THE RIDER: KRISTIN FLAMMIO & THE PRETTY BITCHIN
Ahead of their October 30th show at Union Pool (with Short Porch and Richard Lloyd of TELEVISION!), the band on barbecues, bolo ties and pre-show/post-show/ no-show Rumplemintz
HAPPY MONDAY! (Take that, Garfield.)
Been bombarding you with RIDERs recently, and in lieu of last week’s SETLIST—and this next one’s; sry shall be busy festing!—going to go ahead and hit you with one more. Because really, who doesn’t love lists?! It’s literally the whole reason Buzzfeed exists.
(Actually not sure if Buzzfeed still exists, but that’s besides the point.)
As we’ve been stoked to remind you on a weekly basis, on October 30th at Union Pool, we’re melding old and new New York with an unreal combo of bands: Short Porch, Kristin Flammio & The Pretty Bitchin and Richard Lloyd (of a little band by the name of Television!!!) Group. cbOMGbs!
And you can GRAB YOUR TIX HERE!
So along with reading Richard Lloyd’s memoir (special thanks to Marc for the gift!) to spiritually/mentally/emotionally prepare, we’re stoked to present another Top 10, this time featuring stellar NYC 4-piece Kristin Flammio & The Pretty Bitchin!
Watch and listen…
And then READ ON to see what the very rad band—whose next single “Call For You” is coming out on November 14th—are living/laughing/loving right now.
We’ll see ya at UP on 10/30! Have a really really really great week <3
KRISTIN FLAMMIO & THE PRETTY BITCHIN’S TOP 10
1. Shrek (lamp)
He's an icon and our unofficial mascot. Shrek graces the stage with us at every show, usually spotted on Kristin's guitar amp.
2. Rumplemintz
Pre-show, post-show, no-show: this band runs on rumps. if you’ve seen it surfacing again in BK you know who to thank/blame.
3. Mama Tried
Will (our bassist) is an owner of this incredible bar/music venue in Sunset Park. We’ve had the privilege of performing outside, inside and on top of the bar there for some wild parties, including this Halloween when we're doing a few songs as Hole. speaking of...
4. Cover songs
We pride ourselves on taking a song we all know and love and doing it our own way. we've got some disco, Madonna, Robyn & Cake tunes up our sleeve ready at a moment's notice. Daydreaming of an all Toadies set.
5. Costume changes
Every show has a theme whether anyone but Kristin knows it. Veils, gloves, comically large cowboy hats, lots of thrifted sequins and capes are in rotation with the likelihood of being taken off & worn by Jericho for the rest of the set.
6. Love & Victory
Our friend Meg (who designed our merch) creates such fun & special items for cocktail & music lovers. Faves include their new disco ball 45 adapter and record crate ornament.
7. Barbecues
We love a chance to gather with the homies in the backyard or on the roof and eat/drink/crack jokes. Will's pork shoulder, Jericho's carne asada tacos & Matt's queso are some of the best things on earth.
8. Bolo ties
These boys know how to clean up real nice let me tell ya. It's a real treat when they all show up wearing their favorite bolos and Western shirts.
9. The Pangs
The best dudes we know and love in Tucson (and one lucky Flammio) are back with their infamous Christmas show on December 20th at 191 Toole fronted by our very own Jericho Davidson.
10. LAST but not LEAST - weed
If you're writing love songs about it, you better put it on the list.
