9.29 A wknd w/ Tetchy
The band on bisexual breakfast, honing new songs and their Friday-night single-release show at Our Wicked Lady
Let us time travel back to circa 2003/4, a time when afternoons were reserved for lounging on the couch in Soffe shorts, elbows deep in an 8-gallon tub of Chex Mix that Mom got from Costco, while getting schooled on the newest and hawtest songs and videos available courtesy of the butterfly clip-wearing sonic sherpas on the holiest of networks, MTV. (Then, immediately after, coughing up $1.95 to make “Hey Ya” the ringback tone on your brand-new Nokia.)
MTV WAS THE MUSIC DISCOVERY TOOL OF OUR GENERATION. So, much like the aforementioned butterfly clips, it’s a delight to discover that it’s still very much a presence on this planet. AND it’s even cooler that the network is not simply pumping out videos of puppets with impressive choreography or footage of Kelly Rowland shooting off texts via Excel, but now airing music videos created by and featuring our very own amazing and very talented friends—
Including, most recently, Tetchy, whose music video for “Married” just aired on MTV’s “Spankin’ New”.
🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
So first and foremost: CONGRATS (!!!!!) to a very talented, very deserving band.
And in bonus Tetchy news, on the heels of that rad, rad accomplishment, the band has just released their new single “Voices”—which is out everywhere TODAY!
“If I’m being totally honest—this song is about feeling like you’re losing your mind,” said Tetchy’s Maggie Denning of the track. “Or at least like you’re losing the old, comfy version of your mind from before that really really bad thing happened. It’s about no longer feeling at home within yourself, and waiting for the chaos of your new reality to just wash you away.”
“Voices” is the latest single off All In My Head, the upcoming Tetchy EP—out January 12th on Trash Casual—which Maggie describes as a collection of songs that “were things and ideas that had to come out during different pivotal moments of grieving, reeling, healing, and expanding. Each moment captures what felt like a massive turn in the road for me— critical divergences from the ways in which I was approaching the death of my father, chronic illness, sexual trauma, and a mindlessly heteronormative path that seemed to be swallowing the person I thought I could become.”
Celebrate the single and experience the ultimate kind of catharsis with the band TONIGHT at their release show at Our Wicked Lady (grab your tix here). As for the rest of the weekend, Maggie and the gang have got you covered with the sweetest of itineraries, whipped up just for you and available for your planning pleasure below.
May your days and nights be full of music and friends and fun and sun. Catch you out there <3

FRIDAY
RISE AND SHINE all you tetchy gremlins out there cause it is RELEASE DAY.
First things first— get yer cute butt outta bed, chug yer water, and fire up that meditation app cause it’s time for a big long walk around the neighborhood! After doin some affirmations about feelin GOOD in our body and our tender little lives, we’ll stop by Honey Moon to grab an iced oat latte & a tahini chocolate chip cookie— the breakfast of bisexual champions.
Then we’ll sit outside somewhere (probably Maria Hernandez) to get that good, good sunshine into our eyeballs. We’ll also take the morning to make sure there are no Tetchy fires that need putting out (does everybody remember the songs we’re playing tonight??) and to read all the sweet things our friends are saying on their Instagram stories about the new single, “Voices”.
Later in the afternoon, we’ll hit up Salty Lunch Lady (and visit Emily from 95 Bulls while we’re at it) so that we can FUEL UP for the big show tonight.
The day will stretch on, we’ll cut our bangs, and start blasting Carly, Charli, and Chappell Roan. We’ll text the band (probably quite a bit later than we should) to decide on whatever fit is feeling the most mind-blowingly liberating today. If need be— we can always pop on over to The Rack Shack for some (spicy) accessorizing.
We’ll pull up to Our Wicked Lady at 7ish, so that we’re on time to have our brains melted by Sira and Blue Mena. Then we’ll premiere the Voices music video and get ready for Tetchy time. We’ll settle into the different sounds and energies and everything that’s there in the moment— enjoying our buds and our bodies along the way.
And yes— we’ll stay way too late celebrating the release of 13th Law’s new album, Crisis Core.
SATURDAY
On Saturday we sleep late, dear angels. It’s time for a restful morning full of slow yoga, tasty cereal, and Avatar the Last Airbender.
In the afternoon we’ll head down to Crown Heights to visit sweet Jesse and grab caffeine and treats from Aura Coffee and Mille Feuille. Don’t skip on the treat this morning, friends!!! Be sure to grab whatever is feeling most divine and special. After all, we’re celebrating the birth of our fave grief girl spiral song this weekend. (Alternative and equally tasty treat spots in the area include: Little Cupcake, Ample Hills for ice cream, and Four & Twenty Blackbirds for PIE.)
Then…. *vroom vroom* ! Time to hop in the Prius and zip on over to Maggie’s house so that we can start working on a very special (and very Halloweeny) Tetchy surprise we’ve got in store for you…
SUNDAY
Sunday morning brings another early start because we’ve got some NEW SONGS TO WRITE dear buds!!! Let’s go pick up Kait and Max, and meet Jesse down at our diy basement studio in Flatbush.
After a few hours of cookin up some new parts & riffs, we’ll chow down on some garlic knots and roti— our favorite spot by the stude is Jen’s Roti.
Then it’s time to head back to the land of tooth-gemmed bliss. That’s right— we’re going back to Bushwick, where we’ll hit the Summer’s End fest at Sultan Room and catch our buddies in Dead Tooth rip it up (as per usual) at 3 PM.
Finally, our sweet little Sunday evening arrives and that means it’s time for an especially ~sparkly~ band practice – Big Girl’s first vocals rehearsal of the season for their (famed / legendary / historic) Abba cover set!! We’ll be dancin and croonin and getting ourselves ready for this year’s Haunted Hop – 10/31 at Knockdown Center.
Tea, chocolate, and an early bedtime for all of us though, cause it’s back to those new Tetchy songs down in the stude first thing Monday morning.
Itinerary above written + submitted by Tetchy. Follow the band at @tetchyband, buy music on Bandcamp and add the songs to your Spotify playlists!
