HAPPY FRIDAY! Truly wish this GIF depicting our lord and savior Larry David was larger, but eh, what can you do. (Probably resize it, but whatever.) ANYWAY!
This is the 96th edition of SETLIST—July will mark two years since the launch— and each and every Friday for 96 weeks, we’ve been stoked to bring you new releases, show recs, local music news and a weekend itinerary provided by local musicians we love.
BUT NOT TODAY, PARTNER!
NOPE!
AND NOT NEXT WEEK EITHER!
We are aka Sam is aka I am heading to the UK with Mary Shelley …
Please disregard the fact I neglected to use the geographically appropriate date format on this flyer; old (dumb, American) habits die hard
… and I am afraid I will be too busy drinking pints n eating crisps n using lifts n going to gigs n doing a plethora of other delightful things with cool people whose accents are far more charming/sophisticated/sexy than my own.
Which, as we all know, is really saying something.
SO! I apologize, but I’ll be taking next week off completely to get my gallivanting on across the pond. And this week, in lieu of the SETLIST—mostly because I didn’t get my shit together—I’ve prepared a PLAYLIST: Bands do BK Vol. 17 (they grow up so fast), featuring some of my favorite releases from the last… well, since whenever Vol. 16 came out.
(If you’re a paying subscriber… first off, thank you! Very kind. Secondly, I understand this month you’re not *exactly* getting the most bang for your buck, so feel free to shoot me an email at bandsdobk [@] gmail.com with subject line WHAT THE HECK MAN and, as a fair and professional businesswoman, I’ll gladly refund half of this month’s subscription cost.)
ALRIGHT! That all said, the beauty of 96 weeks of newsletters is you have 96 sets of plans to draw inspiration from, so crank that playlist and dig into the archives! We’ll be back in your inbox + in yo’ face on May 12th with a weekend blueprint well worth waiting for c/o the absolutely amazing Go Home, whom you can catch at Our Wicked Lady on 5/3 with Skorts, Imaginary Tricks and THEMME, then ten days later at the freeeee BDBK x NEW COLOSSUS FEST SUMMER SATURDAY showcase on 5/13 with partygirl, Niño Disco, Sue Your Landlord and our friends Valendina from Philly.
Alright, alright, this flight’s tonight, sooooo I should prob go pack now. Bands do BK is officially OOO baby! Yahooooo—
Truly hope you have an absolutely phenomenal few weeks <3
#BdUK coming soon...

+ Full May schedule for your convenience below:
Beyond being simply a new single, “Everything Sings” from Savoir Adore—which dropped on Wednesday—is the first song the band has released in three years. As recounted in the Bands do BK book, Paul Hammer of Savoir Adore was one of the first artists interviewed for Bands do BK, back in 2019 before the blog had even officially launched, and we had a grand ol’ time in Williamsburg drinking whiskey out of little glass boots at Fresh Kills. This band will always be very, very special to BdBK. Read the original interview here and please go blast the new song — plus their big big 2012 hit, the absolutely perfect track “Dreamers”—ASAP. You are sooo welcome.
