The band on burrito energy, architecture strolls and the Dionysian Disco TONIGHT at Rubulad
Listen, we would never bring God™ into this newsletter—
But for Dionysus, *The God* of wine, pleasure, ecstasy and abandon (+ fertility… but let’s maybe not lean into that one), we’ll certainly make an exception.
If you were also the kind of (obv very cool) kid who was a bit obsessed with Greek mythology… whose favorite Disney movie was also Hercules and who—maybe, in hindsight, kind of strangely—had a 10-inch tall statue of Athena sitting on top of your dresser (who else but the goddess of wisdom and war to guard your undergarments?!)… WELL:
HAVE WE GOT A PARTY FOR YOU.
THE DIONYSIAN DISCO IS TONIGHT—
And you can GRAB YOUR TICKETS HERE!
Friday Night Fever is the new Saturday Night Fever, and while we can’t vouch for the fact that Dionysus was Brooklyn-Shuffling his way ‘round Mount Olympus, if he had been struttin’ around Earth back in the ‘70s, we’re pretty sure the dude would’ve totally dug a disco. And thus a concept for a party—combining disco and debauchery—was born.
Tonight’s event features DJing by Connector plus the musical stylings of Endearments, Niño Disco and tonight’s SETLIST STARS Gold Casio (whose 2023 album was actually titled Disco Hits Radio (Or, The Ecstasy of Ego Death), so you know they’ve got you covered on both fronts).
For those unfamiliar, the Portland-born, New York-based project is one with a mission—and with a warning:
“Gold Casio is et to entrance populations through space-age disco and electrifying visuals that leave their listeners moving their hips and singing melodies. The New-York-based crew harnesses irresistible indie-dance melodies and high-energy performances to seduce listeners into obeying the dark forces of alien disco. Venues, mass gatherings and unsuspecting listeners should consider themselves warned.”
Tonight pretty much checks all three of those last boxes, so audience: BEWARE!
As for the rest of the weekend, let it be known that spreading disco fever (v contagious btw!) isn’t the only thing on the band’s itinerary. Read on for Gold Casio’s plan for the next three days, then dust off your platform shoes and shimmy your foxy self over to Rubulad in approximately seven hours.
The bands, the DJ and the dance floor will be waiting—
May Dionysus have mercy on us all.

FRIDAY
Start the 3-day weekend off with a Totoro Latte at Dayglow Coffee in Bushwick.
Head up the L to Williamsburg for a New Mexico-style breakfast burritos at Santa Fe BK.
Time to burn some burrito energy and get those disco muscles ready with some bouldering at VITAL Rock Climbing Gym.
Then let’s do a little crate-digging for some Japanese records at Face Records NYC, we’ll be looking for something to grab for our collection from Ryuichi Sakamoto or Masayoshi Takanaka.
It's time to head home and get suited up in disco attire for the evening. Next, we’ll be headed back to Bushwick to grab some pre-party Tiki drinks and snacks at Abe’s Pagoda.
Head over to Rubulad to meet all your friends at the Dionysian Disco and dance the night away!
SATURDAY
We’re waking up late and it’s time for brunch. The first stop is Lobo NYC in Cobble Hill for some classic Tex-Mex brunch and a margarita.
Head into the city and up to Central Park for a stroll, grab a hot dog, and make a pit stop to see some medieval Gladiators do their thing.
Next, we’re headed to Times Square for the only good reason we can think of, taking part in the Shut it Down for Palestine Land Day March.
After the march, head a little further uptown for a cool old architecture walk in Tudor City, then over to Omusubi Gonbei for onigiri near Grand Central.
Now cruise back downtown and stop in at Fig. 19 for Cocktails and DJs feat. bartender extraordinaire (and resident Gold Casio frontwoman) Ela Ra.
If we need a late-night snack after a long day of roaming around Manhattan we’ll stop in for a falafel pita at Mamoun’s in Greenwich Village before returning to Brooklyn.
SUNDAY
As West-Coast burrito fiends we’re again starting the day with burritos, this time from Super Burrito in Williamsburg (or at the new Gowanus location in Threes Brewing)
Take that burrito and grab the G to the daytime Public Service dance party with Toribio and Mickey Perez at Herbert Von King Park.
We can’t think of a better Sunday activity than laser tag, so grab some friends to battle against and make your way to Area 53 NYC in Dumbo and battle it out for a few rounds.
We’ll end our weekend at Public Records, sipping on fancy cocktails and snacking on delicious vegan food in the atrium while Awesome Tapes from Africa + Luaka Bop spin on their Hi-Fi system.
