1.26 A wknd w/ Mala Vista
The band on dogs, DJs, donuts and the MANI release party TONIGHT at Union Pool
EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!
(Imagine we’re an 8-year-old kid in a newsboy cap in the 1940s… or something like that.)
The point here is: PAPERS! OF THE (MUSIC) NEWS VARIETY!
As we mentioned in recent newsletters (and have casually screamed on Instagram), today is the day that BdBK x MANI makes its debut! Issue No. 23 of the paper—created by photog and BdBK BFF Nico Malvaldi—is dedicated to Union Pool and includes the premiere of the Bands do BK column, featuring an interview with Danny Gomez, the fireball frontman at the center of Native Sun!
So! Now that we’ve covered paper, let’s talk ROCK! (Scissors pending.)
The official release party is happening TONIGHT at Union Pool (duh) with C.T. Hustle & The Muscle, The Idolizers and—the stars of this week’s SETLIST—MALA VISTA!
Mala Vista is the punk n roll project founded by Myke Miranda (vox/guitar) and Manuel Labour (bass)—later four-pieced the f out with the addition of Erik LAMF on guitar and Ben Heymann on drums—who you’ve likely caught tearing up a stage around the city… or at least hanging out at TV Eye (more on that below).
The band’s got a sweet spring ahead of them that includes the release of their LP Fun Time (March 1st // Spaghetty Town Records), which they’ll be celebrating with not just one but two release shows: March 1st in Atlanta at Star Community Bar in Atlanta and March 15th at TV Eye (told you!). The next taste of the album is en route in the form of their forthcoming single, “Don’t Owe You”—out February 2nd—but you need not wait til February or March for your Mala Vista fix!
Meet us at UP tonight to catch the band liiiiiiiive! But first! Keep on scrolling, sweeties, cuz Myke of Mala Vista has got you covered with quite a lovely blueprint for a rad little weekend, available for your consideration just below.
Read—and rock—on! We’ll catch ya in the crowd… and in the paper <3
