10.21 A wknd w/ Lost Boy ?
Davey Jones on sweet strolls, DJ sets and his Saturday-night cassette-release show at Windjammer
The best part about new music is that often it inspires you to revisit the artist’s older tunes— and the time in your life when they served as the soundtrack.
So, much like Blink-182’s brand-new single took us back to the good ol’ days when all we wanted to do was listen to “First Date” on repeat while sucking down Toaster Strudel icing packets and playing Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 for eight straight hours, the new album from Lost Boy ? (which dropped 7/29) has, as a bonus, served as a glorioussss reminder of the absolutely SICK record VAMPIRE BOY ? (that’s a Lost Boy ? x Time Vampire collab) that served as our sonic wallpaper during the slightly more recent, slightly more traumatic time that was August 2020. When, on the fix front, we required something a littllllle stronger than two tablespoons of vanilla frosting packaged in an itty bitty plastic pouch.
But that’s neither here nor there (it’s then), and we can’t keep living in the past, man. It’s October 2022, so let’s stay focused on the positive stuff, primarily that in the last two years Lost Boy ? has released both the aforementioned album AND a legit baby into the world— the former titled Pop Songs For Dummies, the latter named Yvette and one pictured chewing on the other in this very effective piece of promotional material:
And THIS WEEKEND is your opportunity to follow in the footsteps (crawl tracks?) of the v cool influencer baby above—who clearly has good taste in tunes and also strange taste in snacks—and cop Pop Songs For Dummies on tape at the Lost Boy ? cassette-release show TOMORROW NIGHT at Windjammer, which will also feature the musical stylingz of Dentist, Raisalka and Mulva. (Grab your tickets here.)
As for the rest of the weekend, Davey’s got a few recs. (But not too many; dad’s got shit to do.) SO! Grab a toastable processed pastry, scoop up the record in digital form and begin preparation for what’s sure to be an extremely rad show this Saturday…
BYOBaby, baby! (Don’t actually take our word for that.)

FRIDAY
I'll be doing the normal morning chores, working 9-6 and drinking much needed coffee; anticipating the Alexander Orange Drink and Haybaby show at Purgatory (BK). I will be DJing this event, playing some dub, rocksteady, hip hop, and electronic jams til they kick us out.
SATURDAY
Depending on the weather, it's time to get those steps in! Sweating out the previous nights indulgences til the afternoon which will take us to a nice pre show nap. After a full recovery it's showtime at the Windjammer in Ridgewood for the Pop Songs For Dummies cassette release show. The show includes Raisalka, Mulva, Dentist & yours truly - Lost Boy ?.
SUNDAY
Sunday… This is a day I think everyone can agree on, is a day for lounging. Possibly a good stroll through your favorite parts of Manhattan in the day, whatever time that may be. This will take me to the evening blues of dreading the next work week, so as to numb the mind... its movie and television binging with snacks and comfort foods til early bedtime.

In case you weren’t aware. the Haybaby show (tonight) mentioned in Davey’s itinerary above is actually the band’s LAST SHOW EVER. And with that, we’d like to say goodbye to a very good band that means so much to so many. Check out the farewell post from Leslie Hong here, and be sure to follow their other projects, Grandma and Raisalka (who, as also mentioned above, is playing the Lost Boy ? show this Saturday — full circle, baby!).
